the alchemy of man
'The Alchemy of Man' is a creative collaboration across the worlds of music and film. SonVer perform a live concert featuring tracks from throughout their back catalogue and incorporating various new improvised and experimental elements, accompanied by 7 bespoke short films. Using a minimal brief to encourage complete creative freedom, each of the 7 films has been created by independent filmmakers from across Europe, resulting in a unique blend of style and inspiration.
'The Alchemy of Man' is a stunning visual and aural interpretation of the ancient alchemical process and its psychological parallels within human experience.

Boldizsar is a Hungarian artist/filmmaker who moved into the artistic world collaborating
on many projects in Budapest. His recent film work explores the relationship between the
body, space, time and perception. He has shown work at various international film festivals.
"As an experimental filmmaker I am highly inspired by the music of SonVer. In this film I explored substances and liquids and their interactions in a simple way - I just wanted to
capture their complexity and beauty."
Remco Stoppelenburg
"Since my youth I have always been facinated by film and video. I have grown up knowing where
I want to go creatively - and have now studied at Media college for 4 years. When asked to work
on this project, in a couple of hours I had the whole story in my head and after countless times
listening to the track I knew exactly how I wanted to put it on screen.
With a classmate I shot the clip in just one day."

Jonathan Hickley
"I love creating imaginative worlds and for this film I created a surreal dreamlike landscape,
which I wanted to fade in with elements of the real world - the traveller is somewhere between
the two worlds and as the film goes on he begins to separate between either place. The butterfly
is the one pure thing in both worlds and he is lured to it..."
